Edwin Obiri is an entrepreneur, investor, board director and international business executive with more than two decades of experience spanning energy, mining, minerals and metals, engineering, infrastructure, industrial development, financial markets and cross-border business development across Africa and international markets.

Edwin operates at the intersection of international engineering capability, project delivery, operations management and African market development, with exposure to major mining and industrial opportunities across the region.

Edwin has extensive experience identifying, evaluating and developing investment opportunities across the energy and infrastructure value chain, with particular expertise in petroleum products, oil and gas infrastructure, LPG distribution, pipeline services, industrial development and strategic commercial partnerships. His experience includes building and scaling businesses, developing market-entry strategies, originating transactions, structuring partnerships and supporting the growth of enterprises across Ghana, South Africa, Mozambique and other African markets.

Edwin’s investment and entrepreneurial activities include founding and directing businesses involved in crude oil and refined petroleum trading, LPG marketing and distribution, pipeline engineering and services, energy infrastructure, investment holding and private equity opportunities. He has also been involved in businesses spanning workforce development, facilities management, telecommunications and serviced offices.

He brings significant experience in international business development and cross-border investment, with a track record of identifying opportunities, developing strategic relationships and facilitating market entry across Africa and international jurisdictions. His experience includes working with state-owned enterprises, industrial investors, private-sector partners, financial institutions and multinational corporations.

Earlier in his career, Edwin worked in Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities at Citigroup South Africa, advising corporate clients on balance-sheet optimisation, foreign-exchange exposure and risk-management solutions.

He is Managing Director for DRA Ghana Limited, part of DRA Global Limited, a multidisciplinary engineering company delivering turnkey mining engineering solutions to clients across the world. His focus is on developing the West African business in partnership with DRA. He serves as a Non-Executive Director of the Freeport Saldanha Special Economic Zone in Saldanha Bay, South Africa, where he provides private-sector and industry-based input into the development of a leading industrial development zone focused on oil and gas and marine services. He is also a Founding Director of Ghana Petroleum Mooring Systems, an enterprise with a long-term concession relating to Ghana’s offshore fuel import pipeline system, and is involved in developing opportunities across the downstream petroleum sector.

Edwin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Systems from Monash University, Johannesburg and an executive MBA from London Business School. He has been a YPO member since 2012 and has served the organisation in several leadership roles particularly in the YPO Pan Africa Chapter.
